A venue checklist for multicam productions
Seven things to confirm with the venue before the technical review.
A short list, shared early, saves a second site visit. These are the points we ask every venue to confirm.
The list
- Floor plan with stage, audience areas, balconies and fixed obstructions.
- A closed room or secure area for the control room, away from the audience.
- Cable routes from each camera position to the control room, including safe crossings.
- Power at the control room and camera positions, with the circuit rating.
- Where the program feed goes: LED processor, broadcaster, or streaming partner.
- Load-in access, lift sizes and the load-in and rehearsal schedule.
- A venue technical contact who can approve routes and power on the day.
Why it matters
Camera positions decide lenses, cable lengths and the size of the control room. Knowing them early means the proposal reflects the real venue, not an assumption.
